Praying for His Will

Becoming like Jesus Christ by Seeking His Face is foundational to us at Mountainside Chapel. He was constantly and effectively seeking the will of His Father through prayer. He taught His disciples to pray and He said that we ought always to pray. We want to learn about this connection to God through prayer. It is another primary way to be like the Lord. Several passages teach the importance that prayer had in the life of Jesus Christ, and many others exhort believers to pray for God’s will, as well.

The Leadership would like to follow the Lord in praying for the needs of others as well as committing the ministry of Mountainside Chapel to the Lord on a regular basis. The meetings of the Elders are characterized by intercessory prayer according to the following principles of Intercession.

ACTS

Weekly meetings at the Chapel are held to share in the Fellowship of Prayer. The following familiar mnemonic device reminds us of the components of prayer. Often these components are present whenever the congregation meets for worship or prayer.

• Adoration

The Lord deserves worship because of who He is and what He has done for us.

• Confession

Sin is a barrier between God and man, but confession restores fellowship with Him.

• Thanksgiving

Our thanksgiving goes to God for all manner of blessings He has given to us.

• Supplication

Only after praise should petition be made, but all requests are welcome by Him.
